Presidential Election 2012

New Jersey is allotted 14 electoral votes out of the total 538 set for the Electoral College. Being a winner-takes-all state, the winning candidate in New Jersey will receive all of its 14 votes. To win, a candidate needs 270 electoral votes.

Senator Obama won New Jersey by receiving 57.14% of the vote to Senator McCain's 41.61%.

Mr. Menendez is the incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator who is up for reelection. He is the first Hispanic-American U.S. Senator from New Jersey.

Mr. Kyrillos is a State Senator.

U.S. House of Representatives Election in New Jersey, 2012

New Jersey lost one congressional seat following the 2010 United States census.

A redistricting bill was passed in December 2011 and the primary elections were held on June 5, 2012.

Following are the Twelve Congressional Districts and the candidates:

DISTRICT 1

Greg Horton [R]

Mr. Andrews is the incumbent Democratic U.S. States Representative for District 1 serving since 1990. In the 2010 mid-term election he won easily receiving 63% of the vote.

Mr. Horton who is an educator was a candidate for New Jersey  State Assembly, District 6 in 2011.

DISTRICT 2

Frank LoBiondo (U.S. Rep.) [R]
Cassandra Shober [D]

Mr. LoBiondo is the incumbent Republican U.S. Representative for District 2 serving since 1995. He won the 2010 mid-term election receiving 66% of the vote.

Ms. Shober, the wife of a local Attorney has been an active supporter of President Obama in the 2008 general election.

DISTRICT 3

Shelley Adler [D]

Mr. Runyan is the incumbent Republican U.S. Representative for District 3.
He was elected in the 2010 mid-term election in a closely fought battle with the Democratic incumbent U.S. Representative John Adler. He received 50% of the vote to Mr. Adler's 47%. The majority was 6106 votes.
Mr. Adler died in 2011 and Shelly Adler is his widow.

Mr. Smith is the incumbent Republican U.S. Representative for District 4. He was first elected in 1980 and is serving his 16th term.

Mr. Froelich is an accomplished businessman.

DISTRICT 5

Adam Gussen [D]

Mr. Garrett is the incumbent Republican U.S. Representative for 5th District serving since 2003.

Mr. Gussen is the Deputy Mayor of Teaneck.

DISTRICT 6

Frank Pallone (U.S. Rep) [D]
Anna Little [R]

Mr. Pallone is the incumbent Democratic U.S. Representative for the 6th District, serving since 1993. Prior to that he represented 3rd District from 1988 to 1993.

Ms. Little is a former Mayor of Highlands, New Jersey and has the backing of the Tea Party.

Mr. Lance is the incumbent Republican U.S. Representative for District 7 serving since 2009.

Mr. Chivukula is a member of the General Assembly since 2002 and also serves as a Deputy Speaker.

Maria Karczewski [R]

Mr. Sires is the incumbent Democratic Representative for District 8 serving since 2006.

Ms. Karczewski is a former Municipal Council member at Large at City of Bayonne.

Shmuley Boteach [R]

Mr. Pascrell is the incumbent of Current District 8. He is serving since 1997. 

Mr. Boteach is an American Orthodox rabbi.

DISTRICT 10

Brian Kelemen [R]

District 10 is currently vacant. It was represented by Mr. Donald Payne who died on March 6, 2012. His son Donald Payne Jr. won the Democratic Party nomination for District 10. He is the Newark City Council President.

DISTRICT 11

Rodney Frelinghuysen (U.S. Rep) [R]
John Arvanites [D]

Mr. Frelinghuysen is the Republican incumbent foe District 11, serving since 1995. In the 2010 mid-term election he won his district receiving 67% of the vote.

Mr. John Arvanites is the former Mayor of Roseland.

Current District 11 has been a reliable Republican seat. Redistricting has made it more competitive.

DISTRICT 12

Rush D. Holt (U.S. Rep) [D]
Eric Beck [R]

Mr. Holt is the incumbent Democratic Representative for District 12, serving since 1999. He is a well known Physicist with a PhD degree in Physics from New York University.

Mr. Eric Beck is a businessman and has the support of the Tea Party.
