A strong conservative, Bachmann is a supporter of the Tea Party movement and a founder of the House Tea Party Caucus. She started her campaign really well and in August 2011, won the Ames Straw Poll hosted by the Iowa GOP. After Texas Governor Rick Perry entered the race she fell behind in polls. After being placed sixth in the Iowa Caucuses she announced on January 4th, 2012 that she is suspending her campaign and dropped out of the race. The level of influence she may have in the 2012 presidential election is uncertain at this time. |
